PLFS changes from January 2027; NSO seeks comments within 15 days
The National Statistical Office (NSO) has proposed changes to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) sample design and schedule from January 2027, and has invited comments within 15 days. This affects how the survey that produces India's employment data is carried out.
What this means for you: Ordinary citizens do not need to do anything. The change is in the survey method that produces employment and unemployment figures. Researchers, students and policy workers who want to give feedback can send comments within the stated time.
