Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan', to run from 22 October to 30 November

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the nationwide 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' from Tarawadi in Haryana's Karnal district on 22 October 2026. The campaign will run in villages across the country from 22 October to 30 November 2026 and directly concerns farmers.

What this means for you: This campaign is mainly for farmers, who are being advised to use fertilisers and pesticides in a balanced way. If you are a farmer, check your soil health card and understand what your soil lacks before applying fertiliser. Ordinary people are not directly affected, but clean food and healthy soil benefit everyone.

Protective gloves for cotton pickers: ICAR-CIRCOT signs technology transfer MoU

ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai signed a memorandum of understanding on 22 October 2026 to transfer its technology for protective gloves for cotton pickers to a private company. The move is meant to benefit cotton farmers and farm workers who pick cotton by hand.

11 crore farmers get Farmer ID, target met 5 months ahead of deadline

The Agriculture Ministry says 11 crore Farmer IDs were completed by the night of 23 October, five months before the 31 March 2027 target. It affects farmers who use government schemes, KCC loans, crop insurance and MSP procurement.
